My BUS 2001 Class

My name is Max Carnes and I am a sophomore Finance major at the University of Tulsa. I am also getting a minor in Economics and have been accepted to the Accelerated MBA program. I am currently enrolled in Essential Business Skill Development. Through this course, the university hopes to prepare students for collaboration in the workplace and help them develop a better understanding of their individual skills and career path. With the use of different career building exercises such as mock interviews and resume building, the University of Tulsa hopes that its business students will be better adapted when entering the workplace. To do this, students need to have a good understanding of their strengths, skills, and talents. From this class, I hope to get a better understanding of how I want to use my Finance degree once I graduate. With a more defined career path I can take courses that can better benefit my work in the future. I would also like to go through the interviewing process with a mock interview. The job that I held in high school had a informal interview and with the need for Internships arriving soon that is a skill I would like to have locked down. Our business school also offers various employer events and networking activities to ensure students have access to future employers. This is something I did not take advantage of my freshman year that I would like to in the future, and with this class I will have all the necessary resources to take full advantage of these opportunities. The first available activity provided to students is the "#Adulting 101 Series - Salary and Benefits Negotiation" On January 16th that I plan to attend. This is the first of a series of blogs I will be posting for the class that will reflect on my journey through the class. Thanks! #TUBusinessCareers #GoTU #TUCareerPrep
